We all know the school systems in the U.S. have some catching up to do. But just how far behind are we?

A quick scan of the numbers—from school spending and test scores to equity and graduation percentages—reveals a story of disparity and struggle. We currently rank 27th in Science and 35th in Math based on PISA scores. And only 82% of our students are graduating from high school.

But there is progress.

The good news is that educators are starting to consider the healthiness of an entire district. From investing more in PD to focusing on the “whole child,” they are finding creative ways to promote student and educator success. They are also adopting new tools and technology to further enhance their instruction.
