Technology has long been recognized as one of the greatest potential change agents in education. And as we reflect upon a year of remote and hybrid learning, there is a heightened appreciation for the problems technology can help solve in our schools.
Sadly, though, we know that the benefits of many education technology (“edtech”) solutions are never fully realized—despite districts’ investments of time and money.
As a trusted provider to over 5,200 school systems across the country, Illuminate Education is committed to ensuring our tools succeed in supporting educators and advancing equitable outcomes for students. That’s why we’ve been proud to participate in the EdTech Genome Project and why today we celebrate the release of its new report.
Marking the culmination of three years of research and the inputs of more than 140 researchers, practitioners, experts, system leaders, and industry representatives, the EdTech Genome Project has united stakeholders to understand what makes edtech truly effective in practice and the factors that have the greatest impact on sustainability. The report includes a first-of-its-kind contextual framework to help educators document and share experiences and is a critical step in mapping the course for successful edtech implementations across contexts.
We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the EdTech Genome Project as part of the Industry Council and are excited to be part of the incredible future of edtech.
